What is Yoga Therapy?
Yoga Therapy empowers and supports individuals to manage their health using the principles of Yoga and applying a range of Yoga practices developed with a professional therapeutic relationship. In Yoga Therapy, an experienced Yoga teacher or qualified Yoga Therapist assists a person to overcome the discomforts or imbalances resulting from specific conditions, or generally improve physical, mental and spiritual health on a 'one on one' basis, using tools and providing advice based on yogic principles.
It is about assisting the individual, rather than focusing on the condition and the tools used may include asanas (postures), pranayama (breath work), relaxation, meditation, dietary advice, lifestyle counselling and self-development.
